Your data
Privacy notice
BAFFU (Bangladeshi Academic Forum of Finnish Universities) stores the information you add to your profile so we can run the member directory, review membership and organise events. This notice explains what we keep and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What we store
Your name, email, profile details you choose to provide (education, work, city, links, photo), and the posts and comments you write. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored only as secure hashes.
What is public
Once your profile has your name, city and at least one Finnish institution, it appears in the member directory automatically, and every change you save is shown there immediately. You decide which optional fields are public in your profile settings, and the BAFFU team can hide profiles that break the rules. Your email and phone number are private unless you choose to show them.
Your rights
You can view and edit your data at any time from your profile, download a copy of it, and permanently delete your account. Deleting your account removes your profile, photo, posts and comments.
Processors
Data is stored with Supabase (database, authentication and file storage, EU region) and the site is hosted on Cloudflare. Emails are sent through Resend. If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google confirms your identity and shares only your name, email address and profile picture with us; we never receive your Google password.
Consent
We ask for your consent when you create an account, and record the date and the version of this notice you agreed to. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account under My profile → Security & account.
